1. What is one most important spiritual lesson I have learnt?

I never really understood why when Jesus said that it is better for Him to go (back to the Father) and when He goes, the Father will send us the Helper (the Holy Spirit) in John 14:16-17 until Pr Chris said that Jesus in His human form cannot be everywhere with His disciples but the Holy Spirit in Spirit form is omnipresent. And hence, He would be able to be with His disciples everywhere and anywhere; it is a spiritual breakthrough in my scripture understanding.

2. What has transacted between you and God this weekend?
I traded my yoke of baggages and even bondages with Jesus’ yoke which is light and easy. I no longer have to lug around unnecessary yokes that have been accumulated over the years weighing me down. But at the act of writing down my past sins and regrets and throwing them at the Feet of Jesus, I am able to rise up and not bent over, this act is not only symbolical but liberating. I am now liberated to run and soar with Jesus to greater heights, doing His will for my life. Alleluia!

3. How did you feel before and after the Encounter Weekend?
Before the weekend, I must admit that I had mix feelings… one of apprehension and the other of anticipation, not knowing what will transpire during the weekend. After the Encounter Weekend, I just feel great! Great, because I have been liberated from my baggages and bondages. Great, because I am better able to understand the Father’s Heart for me and for mankind. Great, because I look forward to living that abundant life that He has promised me. And great, because I have found a good, godly family to grow in at DUMC. I am just so happy to be a part of the family of DUMC! Happier still because I know how to live better now.

4. Why should others attend the Encounter Weekend?
Why not? It is such a liberating experience that one should and must attend! It is so good for one’s soul because at this Encounter Weekend, broken hearts and broken dreams are restored, new hopes are birthed, baggages and bondages dealt and bygone with and we don’t have to be trapped by whatever that has happened in the past anymore! On top of that we are not doing it on our own; we are doing it in a secure and loving environment with the presence and support of our fellow church members! Not attending this Encounter Weekend is really a usurp of one’s opportunity to be delivered and released into a life more abundant that Jesus Christ died for us to have. It would be such a shame and an injustice to one’s spiritual growth if they refuse to go.
It is not as much an orientation week for the church leaders to get to know us but more so for one to know oneself, deal with our past and get our lives right with the Lord. It is such a gain for those who attend and experience it for themselves!
